At one of my larger clients, we installed a Wiki over a year ago.

We use it to maintain a knowledge base of all the "technical" stuff about their system. There are flow charts, technical specs, file layouts, and routines descriptions.

All this information is aimed at the technical audience. A signon is required for posting/editing. The whole wiki is unreachable from outside (Internet).

Wiki can be configured for different levels of secutiry. The installation and configuration is fairly simple. The flavor we chose was MediaWiki. Ours run on a Windows 2003 Server with Apache, PHP and mySql.
