Contrary to previous posts to this forum. Lock does indeed work (cfam). We definitely had problems with lock in type N dirs. Lock also won't protect your program from other apps having the file open (notepad for instance).

When doing a clearfile(), most times you either know no one else has the file open, its in the tmp dir, or you don't care.
