HTML Viewer in Spooler

When did the default "V"iewer become an HTML file in the spoller? For large reports this is way too slow, I had a 585 page report that took over 4 min to view, when all I needed to do was look at the last page. This should be an option in the spooler as View HTML or View Text or View Normal (right in the comet session).
