Comet and Vista experiences

Recap:
------
1) bought a Vista Home Premium with plans to upgrade later to Vista Business and join the Vista PC to my domain. Played with Comet 2007. Works best with UAC off. The install got complicated because of an issue with the USB security plug driver. That's been fixed. After that Comet was fine.

2) The upgrade to Vista Business required a clean hard drive. Not too bad as I hadn't done much with the PC. Installed Comet 2007 Server and Workstation again. UAC gave its usual annoyance so I turned UAC off. A UAC toggle requires a reboot.

3) Decided to wait for SP1 before joining to my domain. And, I had upgades to my SBS 2003 server (SP2) to become Vista compliant. With the server up to date and Vista SP1 installed, I upgraded Comet to 2008. With UAC off there were no problems. Since I had added nothing additional to the box except the Comet USB plug I didn't stumble into any of the bad drivers that might have blocked SP1 from installing.

4) Joined the domain. Task manager showed the five processess started by CometServices running so I installed CometWorkstation for the domain user (me, a domain admin). No problems.

5) Now installing all the software from my old XP to the new PC fresh. Decided not to use the "Transfer Wizard". Too much junk and some glitches on the old PC I didn't want to bring over.

Installed and working:
----------------------
a) Comet 2008
b) pdfFactory
c) Outlook and Office 2003 working (will upgrade to 2007 later)
d) Adobe 8
e) IE7
f) PCAnywhere 10.5. Got a compatability warning from Vista but proceeded anyway. I only use the remote option for two customers with Win2000 workstations. All the other are RDP via RemoteWebWorkplace (a free SBS 2003 feature that works with XP and up).
g) CometAnywhere
h) WinZIp 11
i) Aladdins, an envelope/label add-on for Outlook. Works but they changed their format to XML from DAT and don't have a conversion tool
j) Diskeeper 2008 - disk defrag utility. Commercial version of the one in XP. The Vista version has had all the graphical stuff stripped out.
k) Front Page 2003
l) RDP connectoids to the SBS servers I support. I have two for each server. 1st just connects as an additional session. 2nd connects to the console session so I can see the Comet console.

NOTE: The "/console" option has been replaced with "/admin".

Unresolved:
-----------
a) Burning a backup DVD using WinZip
b) Burning CD's and DVD's generally - I'm not planning on bringing my Nero software over to Vista.
c) Cisco VPN Client. Took some MS help to get the Server Firewall to open up for the VPN under XP. Need some assist for Vista.
d) eFax Messenger. Software I'm using to send faxes via the efax.com web and email based service. Haven't tried the install yet.
e) CD label print program (Win98 version). Have to transfer my library of CD labels to Vista a give it a try.

I only have a HP 4 Plus printer shared out by the Win2003 server in the office. It works fine with Vista.

Have a lot done and not many problems.
