The point, I was attempting to get across, is that what is happening is nothing unusual.
It is not, as you put it, "MS messing" up.
It is, quite frankly, Microsoft doing business as usual.
It is nothing to get excited about.
You can squeak all you want, but I sincerely doubt that squeaking in this forum will have much impact on Microsoft.
Matter of fact all the squeaking in the world did not get Microsoft to extend the June 30th date.
Does not seem that anything got oiled.

As for downgrades...
As I said downgrades are nothing new, in fact, it is nice plus, that MS offers that option.
Offering a downgrade, does not of itself, automatically imply that something is "wrong" with Vista.
When Windows Server 2000 came out and Windows NT server was discontinued, you could get a downgrade license to Windows NT Server. I am pretty sure they had a downgrade from XP Pro to Windows 2000 also.

When Windows 7 or whatever it is called comes out whenever it does, I'd lay odds that you will be able to get a downgrade to Vista.

As for squeaking...
When Window NT client was out a lot of the business stuck with Windows 98, because it worked, that they did not want the overhead of Windows NT.

And Microsoft learned a lesson then, you want to talk about squeaking, when XP came out, everyone was in a bloody uproar, because it had two flavors, XP Home and XP Pro. And look what MS did to XP Home, said Sorry XP Home will not connect to a Windows Domain Server. All you business out there still running Windows 98, SORRY, you cannot upgrade to XP Home. YOU HAVE TO UPGRADE TO XP PRO, LIKE IT OR NOT.

As I said what is going on with Vista is nothing new and hardly anything to get excited about.
There were a lot of quirks going from Windows 98 to XP PRO and we all worked through them.

Once the UAC in Vista is adapted to, and I figured out where they moved a few other items to, I've had no problem with it.

Anyway, so much for not getting involved in a long discussion.
I hope I have been able to make my points clear enough.
I never was very good at debating.
