Decided to start "fresh".

1) Uninstalled Comet Server and Comet Workstation. Deleted "Comet Services" folder. Renamed COSW.INI in "ProgramData\Signature".
2) Reboot.
3) Installed Comet Server 8.02 with "Run as Admin"
4) Reboot. Checked Task Manager and all is OK.
5) Installed Comet Workstation 392 to "C:\Comet" as a full workstation. Again, used "Run as Admin".
6) Looked for COSWINI, none found.
7) Ran Comet, received warning message about QDIR for TMP directory. See CSW1.JPG. Clicked OK.
8) Looked for "C:\Users\Grant\AppData\Local\Temp\CAFiles\CATEMP". Found it but there were no QDIR.
9) New COSW.INI was created in "C:\ProgramData\Signature Systems" where the original COSW.INI was created.
10) No "C:\Users\AllUsers" folder was created. Or shortcut.
11) Ran Comet again. QDIR created for TMP.

If "ProgramData" is now the "All users" location, as Jim posted, then the current scheme has a split personality.

Proposed changes to the Workstation install for Vista.

1) Offer an "All or This User" option. If "All" put COSW.INI and CATEMP in "ProgramData\Signature". If "This User", place the COSW.INI and CATEMP in the "C:\Users\Grant\AppData\Local" folder structure.

2) I didn't track the creation of "C:\Users\Grant\AppData\Local\Temp\CAFiles\CATEMP". If the Workstation install doesn't do it, it should. And, create the QDIR too.

3) The workstation install should create the COSW.INI too.

4) The default COSW.INI is awful and I always have to immediately find and replace it. I'd like an "INI=path" with the path being the standard INI with which all new users start.
