Yes, we have dedicated 3 machines specifically to Comet Anywhere Hosts. They are configured with 1 foreground partition that runs a program that monitors the rest of the port. When people connect to the host, we write a record to a file. When then run different applications, it logs it. So the monitoring program basically displays who's connected to that host & what they're doing. It refreshes every 30 seconds or so. Its just kinda handy.

We do have a utility that runs in one partition that sends a message to the write control line of the connected client, alerting them if they have comet email. At times, that process stops functioning for some unexplained reason. But besides that, that machine is dedicated strictly as a host.

One last thought if you're working over a VPN: consider using an external IP address for your host vs. connecting using an address inside the VPN. Comet Anywhere packets are already encrypted, and we experienced a speed increase when we didnt have all the Comet Anywhere packets triple encrypting unnecessarily on top of whats already built into the OS. We're running a second location in TX completely on Comet Anywhere to the equipment here in Mass. Since dedicating a host, and offloading other tasks (or making sure they take task breaks), we've been running very fast and rock solid.

FYI, here's our sysgen config for one of the hosts:
