Could not get your code to work. When you use substring b$=sub(a$,9,3) it produces "000" on files sthat do not have an extension. Don't ask me why.
However was able to get the program to work using sub(a$,35,12) making the next file name equal to that string, and since the file names can not be over 8 bytes long it works fine with all types of source files whether or not they have an "IBS" extension.
Also had to change the length of the "NEXT$" field in Fstatus$ from 11 to 12 as well change the length of the FILE$ from 11 to 12.
