Interesting that you mention ZIP codes in our realm, just yesterday I loaded a CD with 7.5GB of zipped data from the USPS. My client uses this data in Comet for address look-up & address correction. They find it more efficient and easier to use than the USPS web site.
They use a 3rd party for the CASS certification, NCOA and letter-mail presort. I wrote an in-house application for parcels presort (using large mailbags).
Each file can be a maximum of 1MB in length Uploaded files will be purged from the server on a regular basis.
