After conferring with Jim we have 2 other possible explanations. First, if the computer was shutdown with Comet minimized it could come up minimized the next time. Cosw.ini remembers the position of the window when you exit Comet. And, second, if for some reason the session position info in cosw.ini got messed up it might come up either minimized or off the viewable screen area.
