Correction: Working versions are:
Comet 2003 build 328, Cosw 2.31[327], and
Comet 2003 build 321, Cosw 2.31[321]
Mistakenly stated that 2000 also worked, but of course that version will not work on XP.
Apparently running the suggested CometWorkstation.exe wrote something to the registry causing it not to work at all.
