Glenn:

1) If you generated #CFILES from an existing #FILES the editmasks were transferred into #CFILES. The new Reporter will use them just like the old Reporter did. If you want to see them, use "Print Dictionary" on the Utilities tab in DbMgr.

It is true that DbMgr does not at this time allow you to maintain editmasks. DbMgr was originally written for ViewMgr which was designed to output comma-delimited files for Microsoft Excel. Editmasks did not make sense in that application. DbMgr is a very old program which we plan to rewrite and adding editmask maintenance will be done at that time.

2) True, it's not as convenient to programatically change a text file record as it was to change a keyed file record. It can be done however by first making a copy of the file then generating a new one one record at a time, making the changes as you go.

3)...

4) The old Reporter didn't use editmasks on totals either. There is no difference between the old and the new regarding this.
