I know about the strange date thing, but I've seen this before. I have a couple of screens that report the date of the last update and have occasionally had problems. However, if I am going to depend on the update date in the inventory master file even though the file gets updated several hundred times an hour and this date and time are not updating correctly, I'm going to have to re-think this process. The wrong date and times are also reflected if I look at the files thru windows explorer. The client is using windows 2003 server.
