My opinion, DO IT !
We all know it is just for show (to please the European community). Turning IE off in Win7 is basically the equivalent of deleting the desktop icon.
Who cares about IE anyway? It has a history of non-compliance and bullying. All the code I ever written for browser does not use any IE specific code. I steer away from IE and of Outlook/Outlook Express as a matter of fact.
I have my sweet revenge (with Micro$oft) whenever someone call me with an Outlook issue. I tell them: don't use it, don't know about it, don't even know how to turn it on. I just tell them - empty your trash and compact your folders 'cause that's Outlooks Achille Talon.
Can't wait for Windows 7. That is when I get to upgrade my aging Pentium III and steer clear of Vista. Seen only once and can live without (Vista is like the 98 Millenium Edition but from XP).
