Opera is no where even close to competing with Firefox and IE; if we were to mention another browser in the same breath, we'd say Safari. I find Opera to have just as many issues as IE8 (which I'm using in Beta) does. Statistics lie, because 3 years ago, I read a statistic that had IE users at 66%. At 68%, it's actually gained market share.
This is also a skewed statistic. Approximately 20-25% of all computers sold are Macs. What ships with Mac OS? Safari, not IE. So unless Mac users have the desire to go out and download IE (which they don't), 1 out of every 4 computers would not have IE anyways. So now 68% is looking pretty big.
Lesson to be learned: still design towards IE.
