XAP Maximum Variable Length

What if anything can be done to expand the maximum Variable length in XAP to over 252? My XML Query posts for a single line exceeds 252 bytes and when XAP parses the data into the variable it truncates the line. This is creating a real limitation in the number of fields I can deliver through the application.
