You are right about compile not working. You must compile using the 16 bit version since the compiler is written in assembly language. We will get (or have gotten) the 32 bit compiler to work in 32 bit mode, so I suggest you also try to compile your programs there as well.
We did test get/set global, but that may have been in 32 bit programs.
It is a bit confusing since you may compile and run in several different scenarios...
Run 16 bit program in comet16 or comet32
Run 32 bit program in comet32
Compile 16 bit program in comet16 only
Compile 32 bit program in comet 16 or comet 32.
What we are hoping for is that everyone eventually switches compiling and running 32 bit programs in comet32 only.
Don't worry, comet16 (Legacy Comet??!!) will be around for years.
