I just read the wiki page for Comet32.

I have a concern about the different behavior of the STR() function. The Comet16 legacy way of handling the string if too often used to realign right justified number. The most common is the input of the 5 digits customer number in our old legacy package that would go from INPUT (0) CUST$ to CUST=NUM(CUST$,ERR) and finally to CNBR$=STR(CUST) where CUST$,CNBR$ are 5 and CUST is 5.0.

I understand for a dire need for a stripped STR() function, so why not just add a new verb instead? Something like STRIPSTR() or SSTR or STRING()...

This would make the move from Comet16 to COmet32 seamless.

I want to go to Comet32 now! I'd love to do it with as little re-coding as possible.
