Bewildered about XP Search

On a recent project and decided to bring back to life a Tablet PC I purchased 2003. Runs XP and had to bring it up to SP3 plus Symantec. After the updating was complete, when I click on My Computer, up comes all Drives, local and network. When I click on anything at any level, the Tablet Pc now, always assumes I want to do a search. DAAA!!! In order to navigate, MUST right click and choose Explore. What gives??
