I vote for New Statement... Comet is not the only language that has multiple verbs for multiple encryption algorithm.

For Credit Card and passwords, I'd love to have MD5( ) and AES_ENCRYPT( ) and AES_DECRYPT( )

At the pace the "crackers" are working, I'd recommend the 256bits implementation of encryption. I've been told by a security consultant that the wireless encryption (which I believe is the same used in Comet) has already been cracked.

I don't know if PCI DSS requirements require 256 bits minimum, but would be surprised if it happens soon.
