Just upgraded to pdfFactory 3.5 Pro. I went Pro so I could test some of the extra features to see if they're worth the extra $50.
1) multiple print drivers - lets you clone the "pdfFacory" printer to another name and changes it's settings. So I have a pdfFactory with their dialog on and one with the dialog off. Works the way I want. This is good.
For customers with Standard, I was thinking of installing a second "free" PDF program for use outside of Comet and when I want the dialog. Continue to use pdfFactory for the unattended side in Comet. But, none of the "free" programs have a dialog anywhere near as good as pdfFactory's.
2) Pro version follows the PDF Archive standard. PDF's are built with more "stuff" inside to increase their shelf life. No way to test this but it sounds good :)
3) The Pro dialog has tabs for "Stamps" and "Letterhead". I have a request in to pdfFactort Tech Support to see if this is a Pro only feature.
Stamps is a preset list of watermarks like "Urgent", "Proof", etc that can be added to the PDF. You can add your own stamps.
Letterhead comes empty but can import from the dialog display.
This may make for some interesting Comet options if ...
1) these options can be invoked programatically in pdfFactory.
2) if Yes, can Comet hook into these options.
Each file can be a maximum of 1MB in length Uploaded files will be purged from the server on a regular basis.
