Awesome program. I use an older version VmWare Workstation 5.5. Took some of my older operating systems (Windows 98, Windows 2kpro) and loaded them up (installed them in vmware). Even have a copy of XpPro setup. Now, when I want to test software on a 'clean machine', I make a quick copy of the OS, install, test/try, delete it. My host system never needs to get 'soiled' with the software in question. Best thing since sliced bread. In the past, you would have to build a test system, load the OS and get it running - normally would take a few hours. Now in minutes if not seconds, same work can be done. Also great if your wanting to test out other operating system like Windows7 (32 bit) - that's what I did with mine. My computer (P4 XpPro 2gig ram) actually seems to run faster with the Win7 Beta. I've also used it to load up other OS's like Ubuntu, Fedora and Sco.

I was luck to get mine for free at a VmWare demo day in Toronto - stayed for the morning to watch the VMware preople show off the 'new' software and you got a free full copy of VMware Workstation about 6-7 years ago. After what I've done with it over the years, the software is an easy buy in my books if your doing any kind of testing. Would make a great production solution as well, but I'd check out the higher end versions of the same software.

Virtualization is big business these days. Have multipl physical systems with Vmware loaded, move a whole computer from one physical computer to another, restart it and run as if nothing happened. The higher end versions of VMware let you do this on the fly while they are 'on'. Not to mention, they will also run more virtual systems.
