I was able to make the connection by upgrading to the .27 version of 3.51 available on the mySql site. If there's truly a bottleneck in the Comet ODBC application, I wonder if I should write the app in Visual Basic using the ODBC interface. That way I can use the .com interface from the VB program to load the data into comet.
