Just got my first NAS device. An IOMEGA 1 TB that has 2 USB ports that you could plug external USB 4 TB drives or USB printers?? Storage, storage, storage to the MAX with an exclamation point! And it's cheap! Under $1500 to get to 10TB easily. Simple to install also. It's a new level of capability I've never experienced. Need to make a game plan. It's not just another disc drive that's mapped. Has it's own set of rules. NAS is a file server with no key board, screen or mouse. It's probably Linux or something that's open source. You interface with a browser. Has a Linux look and feel, each NAS vendor has it's set of software to manage it, creating folders, users, passwords. IOMEGA has it's set of tools to auto backup workstations to NAS. You can never map a root NAS device. Being from Q-land I'm configuring my NAS devices as NS1, NS2, NS3, etc. So I map \\NS1\Comet to a drive letter. Also possibility to backup workstations over the internet to a remote site via ROBOCOPY even if the network connection is interrupted it will resume where it left off?? Day ONE and these are the possiblities I'm discovering!! DAA!!
