In my testing of comet 2010 on Windows 7, I noticed something similar. Comet would take longer to start up. I went to startup details and noticed 60 or so of those COSH[xx] prompts.

As you probably know, Comet.exe starts Cosw. Cosw starts Cosc. Cosc then starts Cosh. Cosh is a 16 bit program and lives under NTVDM. Once Cosc finds that Cosh is loaded, the process can continue, and the first screen is displayed.

My guess is that previous versions of windows loaded NTVDM when they started up, and this is no longer happening.

I may be wrong about this, since I just went back and looked at the startup details again, and now, the count only got to 16 or so not 60! Maybe windows is learning what programs to load quickly? Remember, I am testing with Windows 7 not Windows server 2008.

Let's have a look at your startup details.
