Took the plunge. 3 attempts to be successful. Had Vista Ult right where I wanted it for my personal use. So can the 7 upgrade option transfer all of my programs and settings? Answer is YES but be careful. MS suggested to hook up/turn on ALL devices to your PC before executing MS 7 upgrade advisor. My first 2 attempts failed and MS correctly used a RESTORE POINT to take me back to Vista as if nothing happened. GOOD JOB MS!! Remembered a Server 2008 update that required a restart. Had a USB Flash installed and required a reboot. Reboot stalled. Removed the USB Flash and the 2008 update completed. So I removed the USB external disc drive and presto!! Windows 7 resumed. Have to admit, after pulling plug did a CTRL-ALT-DELETE with crossed fingers. AAhh, upgrade resumed.. So glad!! Been using 7 for 2 hours so far. Comet doesn't know what to do with it yet. Attached is a COSC. Two hour impression?? ROBO works. Programs and settings got transferred from Vista. USB External works. NAS works. If you're going from XP to 7, you're chin is going to drop. Can't explain it. At least I went through the Vista experience. Control Panel for example, Vista offered a XP legacy OR Vista feel. 7 offers a 7 feel. Legacy look is gone. Get used to it!!
