Have a Oct/2001 XP laptop from Toshiba. Used as everyday portable to keep Novell/MS clients updated. Installing XP, Novell, SP3, Linux has slowed it down too much so I decided to start from scratch. Clean install. FDISK everything!! Install TODAY's memory upgrades. 1 gig upgrades. Used Toshiba's restore CD which took me all the way back to XP 2001. Took awhile to get to XP SP3 up-to-date. For me, laptop use at client's site is less necessary. All you need is USB Flash. Yep, got to keep up with the times! Have clients still using G-NEIL Optima, MS Money 2000, Netscape and Comet 504 stuff! Plenty of Comet opportunities exist!! Just replace these apps with your IB solutions.
