If you do change the NLM, it would hopefully protect my data in cause of un-timely server abend. I have over 80 users, each use data files from 4 different folders. At any time each partition may have 40+ files open, which means that I should have somewhere around 100 files minimum per user at all times (multiply the file handles by 2). That would be on top of the 20 directories in use.
As it is now, with over a hundred computers/printers connected on my LAN, the performance is already irregular. Some process that are run may perform millions of I/Os over a period of 15 minutes to 3 hours...
It would be very difficult to measure impact.
I am more worried to know what caused the NLM to abend with a NETINQ. Twice whitin a week period.
