Overview:
I am at customer location developing new software to show customer the enhancements available in later versions of Comet, ie: Comet 2009/2010.
The customer is running a mixed variety of Comet, from Comet '98 to Comet 2004.
The customer is a wide area network with 3 locations.
The customer is running CometServer32 5.08, Comet Security Server 5.080.
On my development computer I am running Comet 2009, Comet Security Server 9.04, Comet Database Server 9.05. I am networked to the customer servers but ONLY copying the live data to my computer for testing purposes.
This is what I want: I have a usb license for Comet2009/2010. I want to set up one of their users/workstations with this license (ON LOAN) installing Comet2009 - Comet Security Server 9.04 - Comet Database Server 9.05 this workstation so the customer can test drive the changes I am making accessing LIVE data files in LIVE mode.
If I understand correctly this will NOT work. Under the current Comet technology the customer has to be running the same version of Comet and Database server on ALL workstations. We can no longer mix a variety of comet licenses at the customer location.
I just want to confirm this a final time before I determine the method/path I will take in upgrading the software for this account. I was able to implement email technology using the old "sendmail" method. The email printer would have been much easier.
I would upgrade the customer to a subscriber and current Comet if I could. At this time they are not willing to do that for their entire environment.
