One of my customers is using the "debug" version and so far no Security Server crashes. So, if 10.0 is the same, I'd go with that.

All the AV products are "bad" and eventually let you down (allow malware to infect) or just get themselves tangled into a knot. TrendAV was my most recent case. A PC on a customer's network went "rogue" with a SPAM sending infection. Trend couldn't find it (PC or malware), so the IT guy decided to switch to Symantec. Besides the crisis of having their ISP close of outgoing email, the IT guy didn't like the Trend Console as it was slow and awkward. But, Symantec didn't find the "rouge" either but the SPAM emailing stopped and he was reinstated by his ISP. And, since then he's had to have his security guru back three times to keep tweaking Symantec when Symantec fails to install itself on new PC's or update some of the existing PC's with patches and definitions.

At my office, two Vista PC's, I've been using MS Security Essentials. It's free and doesn't seem to interfere with processing speed. They're both standalone. Haven't used the server based Security Essentials.
