I just finished up and ran the VB interface to CFAM, worked like a charm! I needed to get going on this as I have a customer requesting
access to UPS Online Tool for Address Verification. I anticipate doing this with a VB program - when the operator wants to verify an
address I anticipate an option being chosen in my IB program that
does the following:
1) writes the address to a text file on a 'C' type directory, file name 'ADV'+TERM$+'.ADV'
2) register the 'ADV' extension as a file type that is associated with my VB program
3) launch the file which will execute my VB program
4) VB program reads the address from the file ( how did it get the filename? Good question!!! ), puts together XML file with address
validation request & sends this to the UPS site. Response comes back
with good/bad & valid alternatives if bad. Operator clicks OK or
chooses an alternative. If alternative chosen, writes back to the file.
5) IB program has a prompt to continue if address is good or to pull
in a chosen alternative.
I'm sure I'll run into things as this progresses, but it's nice to know that the underlying functionality is good to go. I'm also sure
many other uses can be made for this type of access.
Question: Is there any means of passing info to the VB program, along the same lines as # buffer?
