I've got the overlap indicator working properly in the new CFILES program. As you can see in the screenshots on the wiki discussion, these fields are indicated with an "O" (for overlapped). CFILES can detect these fields as well as gaps in the record. The problem is how to handle these fields and gaps when inserting or deleting fields and when generating include files. Please check out the wiki page and add to the discussion I started about this.
