xap & vm performance

Anyone have any experiance running XAP on a VM? I have Hyper-V running on a 2008R2 with either a Virtual XP or Virtual 2008 32 bit I get a slow response searching. CPU and memory do not seem saturated. I'm having a difficult time troubeshooting, not sure if the nature of a comet node running XAP is a problem for VM's.
