WEBSERVE is a program that XAP automatically runs when it can't find the indicated program in the XAP directory. WEBSERVE uses the script name as a file name and attempts to determine what file type it is and sends the file as a specific MIME type to the browser.

Your XAP log should tell exactly what is happening. My guess is that you have an old copy of WEBSERVE that does not handle the excp 32 correctly.

WEBSERVE was released in source form many years ago, and so, we cannot know which version you are running. If WEBSERVE cannot be found in the XAP directory, no action will be performed, so if you do not want to serve up images or whatever, just erase WEBSERVE from your XAP directory.

Keep in mind that there is much activity on your XAP site -- many robots such as yahoo and google (they look for a file called robots.txt); and browsers look for a default icon as well.

I attach here my latest copy of WEBSERVE.IBS for your programming enjoyment.
