Comet can run just fine on a peer-to-peer network if it's 5 or so users. Less the better.

All my customers, except one I inherited, are on Server 2003 or above. I install Small Business Server when I'm their net admin too. FYI, next SBS version will have "cloud" options. Particulatly Exchange. And there's a baby brother, Windows Home Server, that should be looked at for small offices.
