The guys are right. You'll want to file this one under "that's just not fair"! I setup your test with some dummy data. The "problem" is that when your KEY function succeeds, EXCP is not reset to 0. Maybe you should use RC.GOOD.KEY$'s value as an indicator of the error instead.
