Use Txx.
1) Use (WC) to write to the command line of the Txx that's running.
2) Use the DOS version to write to any of the Txx's for the node. You can't write to Txx's for another node.
3) From background, you can only use the DOS version. ITERM$ is the Txx that initiated the background. This is how I used the DOS version to tell the user that a background process (update, print, etc) was complete.
Caveats:
a) My IB dialog programs sit on top of the QCRT screen and occupy the entire space. This puts the control line under my dialogs and is hidden from the user.
b) In Comet32, backgrounds are going away.
Because of a and b, I've eliminated control line writes and backgrounds. Switching all user centric messages to MSGBOX.
