1) Any PDF writer can be written to from Comet and will yield a PDF. I've seen CutePDF and PrimoPDF at my customers.

2) If you want to "talk" to the driver and manipulate the created PDF's for DocMgr, email, etc then you can only use pdfFactory or Adobe Acrobat. pdfFactory is cheaper and easier to set up.
