Been away for a long weekend.
I think Robert owes us a report on the final timing of his huge file copy.
As I understand indexed-file organization the first thousand records will copy faster than the last thousand. Am I right Jim? Extrapolating the timing from the first records copied will be unrealistic.
The size of the key-tree grows as records are added and more and more keys need to shuffled as the copy proceeds. As a result adding the last record requires many more disk operations than were needed when copying the first record.
Each file can be a maximum of 1MB in length Uploaded files will be purged from the server on a regular basis.
