I've been using Win7 Ultimate so a year or so an a laptop with a high quality video card with no noticable slowdown in compiles. CED programs are very fast. Comet Windows programs with all the WDL INC's are slower.

I do remember, from XP, that Comet is slower if "Clear Type" is ON. Doesn't seem to apply anymore but might be something to check.
