Beg to differ. Public serial devices are DEAD. Still have a serial printer but it just sits there. Parallel printers are in the casket. I have a 1000 lpm Genicom that will forever be connected to XP on my network. Floppy device GONE, it's all flash mem. It's wi-fi, bluetooth and mobile. New devices definitely communicate via the Web based on TCP. EX: CometAnywhere.
