5-6 years back, a customer wanted to print "greenbar" reports (set of 18) to his new 40PPM laser printer but still have the programs send their output to QSPOOL. I set up a "?" printer and with Lucida Console, 9 point, 13cpl. When the "?" printer dialog came up he selected the printer and opted for Landscape. Together, this allowed him print the reports in "books" that were handed out at management meetings. 2 years ago the company abandoned the the hard copy and went to PDF's. He's been using PrimoPDF with the above settings to create the reports. Last week one of the users complained (after two years???) that, when printed, the left margin was being trimmed off.

Already having purchased pdfFactory for DocMgr, I suggested he switch from PrimoPDF to pdfFactory to generate his set of PDF's. pdfFactory inserts margins into the PDF and the new sets of reports now prints correctly.

Sorry to be longwinded. While testing we found that sometimes pdfFactory picks up the point and cpi settings of PrimoPDF.

If our last test run was to PrimoPDF, at the beginning of the next test run, the "?" dialog would show "PrimoPDF". He'd switch to pdfFactory and proceed with the reports. The first PDF from pdfFactory looked like it was Landscape, 9 point, and 13 cpl. At the begining of reports 2-18 the "?" dialog would come up with pdfFactory and he'd just accept the dialog. All those reports came out with the "Default" settings of 12 point, 17 cpi.

The "?" settings would stay OK unless we went back to PrimoPDF.

After removing the Cosw.INI setting for PrimoPDF we'd occassionally see the 9 point, 13 cpi come back after using Primo. Even though the PrimoPDF PDF file came out 12 point, 17cpi.

XP Pro SP3 workstation and Comet.435 /16.
