I can answer some of your questions. The E61 you got didn't get written to the error log because it was handled by CMON32 rather than by Comet32. Remember I explained in a previous post (about "BYE") that CMON32 looks in COMMON for the name of a program to be run. If it gets an error running it, you'll get the error reported in a message box as you did.
ErrorLog gets entries made by Comet32 when you have an unhandled error - like what Comet16 did with QENDITOR. The message box you'll see in that case has a caption of "Comet Error" and will contain the opcode, program address, and a description of the error code.
I tried to reproduce the truncation problem you're having. It works fine for me (of course). What date did you select?
