Why does it work?

After recent bout with 16.0 and 16.8, it occurred to me that source like ...


length 2 & local m1$
length 2.0 & local mo
LET M1$ = SUB(STR(MO + 100),15,2)

would give an invalid M1$ because its assuming a 16.0 work area. But it works in 16/16 and 16/32 and 32/32 tests.

Why? :)
