Why does it work?

Posted this last Friday but I'm still unclear over how Comet32 will treat my code.

length 2 & local m1$
length 2.0 & local mo

LET M1$ = SUB(STR(MO + 100),15,2)

0000000001111111
1234567890123456
----------------
vvvvvvvvvvvvv102

00000000011111111112222222222333
12345678901234567890123456789012
--------------------------------
vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv102

The v's are placeholders for blanks.

In QICBASIC/MTB/IB, I know that the work "register" is 16.0 and that the two digits I want are in position 15-16 in the STR of the work "register".

What's the Comet32 equivalent? 32.0? 64.0?

And, my prior question. I was pleasantly suprised that my Comet16 OBJ with the 16.0 presumption worked under Comet32. And, I am baffled the the Comet32 compiled OBJ also worked.
