The TV had shots of the snipers running around on the roof of the White House... guess they were rousted (as the French say "des bras de Morphee" "from the arms of Morpheus" (can never remember if he's the god of Dreams or of Sleep)
anyway, the Washington Monument was never built to withstand any kind of earthquake... sad if, in these money tight times, we have to shore it up.
