Maybe this will help:

Brian says at one time he did implement what is currently an undocumented method for trapping the "X" in Comet. He planned to make it a mnemonic but has never finished the project. You can try it by issuing a control to LUN 0 (the terminal). It requires CosW version 2.72 or higher:

to disable the "X": print "@0e0a0e00@"
to re-enable it: print "@0e0a0e01@"
