Windows Version VS Windows Print Driver

Good afternoon,

I need a method to identify the version of Windoze running on any given system because of some
stupid mistake made by Xerox and/or Microsoft.

We have this Xerox N32 printer with 5 trays and I started some time ago to use the Windows calls
to select the proper paper tray (bin). After some trial and error I found the tray assignment for
all trays under Windows.

Unfortunately, we found that the WinXP version of the driver has two of the trays in reverse order
(tray 3 and 5 - aka bins 258 & 260). The standard response from Xerox and Microsoft has been
"tough luck". We do not want to use the Print... Dialog, since these are for printing standard
stuff either on letterhead (one bin for each division) or reports on either plain paper or
pre-punched 3-hole paper (for archiving).

Since I cannont re-write my own Windows print driver nor can I debug 'em, my only alternative is
to find a way to identify the version of Windows to make proper selection (we already use multiple
selections depending of operator's department - either Xerox N32, HP 2100, HP 8150 or HP 9000).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Have a Nice Day
