yes... the rebuild was done thru Comet Explorer.

actually, I'm not concerned... I think the only non-8.3 file names there would have been for .txt or .csv

I'm sure there are no files with .I00 or no extension...

does this mean that I could rename COMET files to "long names" and then somehow access them later for historical purposes? I'm slowly getting used to COMET EXPLORER and doing things that way... where, for example, I know that the old rename (QTILITY) wouldn't allow a long name... just not sure how COMET EXPLORER enforces the rules

In the end... disk space is disk space, and my QDIR now has over 3800 more entries in it.
