ListView Sort

I have a standard ListView, developed in VS2008, that has Sort turned off. Until now this has worked fine because I've wanted the initial loading of the list to be unsorted. Now I have a program where I want to let the ListView sort the list.

I've played with loading the list and then doing an immediate COS.ListView.SortItems. This does the sort but messes up the highlight & EnsureVisible settings.

Is there a way to turn the sort back on before I begin loading the list?
